For sale, a very original 3. 4 litre Jaguar Mark 2 in grey with red leather interior built in December 1964. This is a matching numbers car with original body and engine and still retains its Moss gearbox. The car was first registered in Sidmouth, Devon and has had 5 UK owners (including myself), all fully documented in the accompanying history file. I have owned the car for 14 years and am selling the car due to lack of use. The car is being sold with 12 months MOT.
This Jaguar was purchased by the previous (4th) owner as a non-runner in 2009 and subjected to restoration work until 2012, during which time consi
derable bodywork repairs were made, and the car was resprayed as it appears today. The leather interior and wood were cleaned and repaired but not replaced. The recorded mileage at this time was 43062 miles, which was believed to be genuine based on condition, though this cannot be verified. The history file contains detailed notes of the work done and all receipts for parts and suppliers.
I purchased the car via the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club in 2012. The car was used until mid 2014, when, at a mileage of 45, 943 miles, the engine was removed and completely rebuilt by a specialist (receipts for £9, 300). The clutch was also replaced at this time. Since this time the car has only covered 2, 300 miles.
The car is being sold with Heritage Certificate, original toolkit, original service book, two lever arch files which demonstrate DVLA provenance (and contain all receipts and service work from the previous owner and myself) and finally a digital photographic record of the engine rebuild. I have always maintained the car with MOT’s and prior to sale it has just had an MOT (expires January 2027) and at the same time the carburettors have been balanced. The appeal of this 3. 4 litre Jaguar is both its originality and UK provenance. When I purchased the car, I was looking for a Mark 2 which was as close to its factory specification and build sheet as I could find. Since purchase I have tried to always retain the character of the car. Essentially the only modifications I have made are a discrete electronic ignition unit hidden inside the distributor and a hidden manual choke. The car also has a battery isolation key. I have retained some parts from both the previous owners work on the car and from the engine rebuild, all available to a future owner.
