Very original 1958 Series II Land Rover. Came off the production line in the first year of the Series II being made. It spent its whole life in Dorset before I bought it and took it to West Sussex.
I bought this as a very good running project, however have not had time to do the project part! It runs really well and does the school run every Friday. Brilliant village/ pub car and gets a lot of looks. Very reliable, never once broken down on me.
Comes with the hard cab top. I don’t tend to have this on, as much nicer to drive open top. I have all the fixings etc to reattach it though. Pictures of cab top included.
Chassis is original and in very good condition. A bit of surface rust, but no rot. Could do with being treated. I have included some detailed pictures of the underside.
The bulkhead needs work at some point. The vehicle has been garaged stored all the time I have had it and it has not got any worse. I have had a couple of opinions on fixing it, which confirm it can be done if someone wants to keep the original bodywork. It is structurally sound though, so fine to drive about in the meantime as I have done.
Selling with original workshop manual and owners manual, which are a great piece of history in their own right. Also comes with original log book, showing original Dorset based owner as well as historic registration.
Looking for a good home! It will suit someone who wants a good running Series II at an entry level price, but is happy to take it as it comes in terms of condition. Please email with any questions or if you want to come and visit.
Message me and I can WhatsApp videos. Dorset based for its whole life. You can see this from the service stamps, receipts and fact I bought it from Dorset.
I understand from the previous owner the engine and gearbox were rebuilt in the 1990’s. It certainly feels like this, as engine is very quiet and smooth, along with the gearbox. Also very good steering rack, which is firm when driving, not wobbly like some of the old ones.
