Welcome to the sale of my 1998 Peugeot 106 Rallye S2 in Bianca white. As you will know these are exceptionally rare cars nowadays. Only 500 UK cars were made, 250 in Bianca White and another 250 in Indigo Blue.
This particular example I bought from CCA almost three years ago, which is now Iconic Auctioneers. It comes from an enthusiastic home and is offered in excellent condition. The car has covered just 72, 785 miles from new. This will increase slightly as I use the car in the weekends.
There are 5 previous owners to myself. Only two of those are known to be dealers. Before I bought it the car, it lived in Devon and lived a very loved life. Throughout my ownership I have pampered the car, buying any part it needed and taken on a full front + rear underside and engine bay restoration including new water pump, cambelt, head gasket and full steam clean of the engine. This was done at 72, 000 miles. As the engine bay pictures show, it is very clean and totally standard.
The underside restoration was done 2 years ago. This included restoring the rear axle, all steel wheels including the spare, the boot floor had all surface corrosion removed and was primed, then painted the grey that it would have been originally. They never came out the factory with a white boot floor on the underside as you would have seen on various restored cars. The spare was never white, it is a burgundy colour which was colour matched to keep the originality. Since then I have been coating it with clear lanoguard every 6 months to keep it protected. The car is used all year round, however only in dry weather.
The exterior paintwork is all original. I have had a stage 3 paint correction and ceramic coating applied to the car every 12 months in my ownership to keep it looking fresh. This includes the glass being polished.
Now to mention the history. There are two fat folders of history as you can see. There are bills dating back to when the car was 5 years old including the original supplying dealer, bills of sale, servicing at Peugeot dealers for the early stages of its life. There are stamps up to 2018 and then after this I have receipts of servicing every year until 2025. As I usually get the car serviced when the MOT is due (September) there is no 2026 servicing bill. The MOT expires in September 2026, however it has always passed and never had an advisory since 2014. The car is that good. I have two keys and an immobiliser fob. All the brochures/ security books are there. I’ve owned many cars over the years and I’ve never had one have as much history as this one. The only reason I am selling is because I would like to buy a Renault Clio Williams and garage space is limited.
The exterior condition of the car is phenomenal, there are minimal stone chips to the bonnet and rear bumper. No stone chips to the other panels of the car. It is all original paint. It’s never had substantial paint (anything more than a touch up to the stone chips). The paintwork is very smooth and has been treated to a ceramic coating every 12 months. The car is stored indoors and has never been left outside in poor weather during my ownership.
The interior is in fantastic condition. It retains a totally original interior. There are no holes in the parcel shelf, the seats have never been retrimmed, it holds the original headset. It even still has its original supplying dealer (Warners of Gloucester) carpet mats. There is a small amount of wear on the drivers thigh bolster, which you can see from the interior photos. There is no cracking to the dashboard and the headlining is in immaculate condition.
Onto the performance of the car. It has a full stainless steel Pugsport exhaust which sounds very raspy. That is the only non OEM modification to the car. The rest is standard. While the engine was out the car, I decided to get the head gasket, water pump and cambelt replaced along with other gaskets. The engine was taken apart down to the head and rebuilt with a blank cheque outlook to anything needing replacing. The car starts and runs very well. It pulls very strong around 5500 rpm, idles very steady just under 1000rpm and is a fantastic car to drive. If you look out the 106 Rallye register and find the buyers guide, print it out and compare it to this car, you will find nothing wrong!
If there is anything to note on this fabulous car, it would be the passenger side door has a worn spring in the lock. As I have always kept this car in a locked garage it has never bothered me. The door lock works fine however the door needs an extra push to get it closed. A replacement lock assembly is £50 however as the car has always been in secure storage and I only drive the car with myself in in it, it never bothered me enough to get it done as I never have any passengers too!
The second point is the plastic scuttle panel cover has a crack on the corner. It is still secure as the part which is cracked is bolted on. A replacement part is again £50, but as it is only aesthetic and very hard to notice, it has never bothered me enough to replace it. The photo of it cracked is towards the end.
Please note I will only take a bank transfer for the car. No cash or PayPal. Strictly bank transfer. Viewing is welcome, however no test pilots. I’ve had too many bad experiences with letting people drive my cars which were for sale. I’m happy to take you out in it though. Delivery in a closed trailer can be arranged at an additional cost as long as it is payed for bank transfer. There is no warranty included in the sale as I am not a dealer.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have in mind. I have priced the car proportionate to what two others have sold for recently. There has been a restored 110k mile car sold for £16, 950 and another restored 137k mile car for £18, 000, so I feel this is a very fair price for a highly original collector grade car with lower miles and an incredible history file.
Thanks for reading.
